The Oak Ridge High School Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team travelled to Halls in a District Match on Monday night. The Lady Wildcats came home with a 3-1 victory in the final District Match of the season, securing another regular-season District Championship. “It wasn’t a great showing tonight, but we did what we had to do when it mattered,” said Head Coach Dave Kolodney. “To wrap up the District season 11-1 sets us up nicely for the playoffs.” The Lady ‘Cats broke their record for the most Kills in a Match (57), however they struggled keeping the ball in play and also ended up with the 2nd most Attack Errors in a Match (30). “Tonight we started slowly and it took over a set to turn things around, but once we got on track it was a solid effort,” Kolodney continued. “Our last two sets were especially good with excellent passing and being able to get some timely timeouts.” Oak Ridge got a spark from the bench from Freshman Defensive Specialist Sydney Ward who came in cold and served lights out earning 6 Aces and Player of the Match honors from her Coach.
The Lady ‘Cats last regular season Match is against Farragut Wednesday with their annual Dig Pink Match-up. The District Championship will be hosted by Powell Wednesday October 3rd.
The Lady Wildcats improve to 21-8 (11-1 District) on the season.
