The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team hosted District rival Karns High School for their second meeting of the season. This match ended similarly to the first, with the ‘Cats sweeping the Beavers in straight sets. “This was a really good match for our team,” said Head Coach Dave Kolodney. “We got Piper [Halcrow] back and I think the other girls really fed off her energy.” Halcrow had been sidelined the last two weeks with a foot injury, but returned to the starting line-up tonight. “Plus we cut down on unforced errors that have killed us in the past,” Kolodney stated referring to the decrease in missed serves that have plagued the ‘Cats in recent matches. “We sided out at nearly 75%, so we were able to limit any runs that Karns wanted to go on,” Kolodney continued. “This was a good lead up to Thursday’s Bearden Match.” Bearden is coming off of a close 5 set loss to Farragut earlier this week. “Clearly Bearden is improving as this season goes on, but we’ve got Piper back,” Kolodney finished with a smile. Kolodney also named Halcrow as the Player of the Match as the Senior Co-Captain led her team in Kills and Serving despite the 2 week layoff.
The Lady Wildcats travel to Bearden for a District match on Thursday night. Oak Ridge is 18-6 (8-0 District) on the Season.
