Game Recap

In a few minutes, the Oak Ridge Wildcats will take on the Powell Panthers. The winner of this game will play the Karns Beavers in the 2-AAA Region Championship on Thursday.

Game underway, Oak Ridge wins the tip off. Powell must have scouted the Oak Ridge/Farragut game because Powell’s first possession starts with the stall offense.
Oak Ridge adjusts to Powell quickly and puts up 7 quick points. Powell changes their offense quickly. Low scoring first quarter, ends with a block from Taijon Jones. Oak Ridge 11- Powell 8.

Powell trying to slow down the game and stall, seems to be working for them at the moment. Oak Ridge heads into the locker room just 2 points ahead of the Panthers. EJ Bush and Tee Higgins both with 10 points at the end of the first half. Rebounds are elusive for Oak Ridge, with 4 for the first half, EJ Bush has 3 of the 4. Coach Green and his staff hopefully are getting the Wildcats focused on finishing this game strong.

Powell hasn’t changed their offense, and Oak Ridge is trying to open up a lead. Taijon Jones with 2 threes help Oak Ridge stay in front of the Panthers 40-35.

Oak Ridge Wildcats defeat the Powell Panthers in a nail biter. The game was decided on clutch free throws by Tee Higgins with 5 in the last few minutes to secure the win. Javien Johnson added 4 free throws of his own. Tee Higgins with 18 points to lead the Wildcats followed by EJ Bush with 14 points. Oak Ridge 53 – Powell 48.

Oak Ridge and Karns will meet in the 2-AAA Championship this Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 pm in the Wildcat Arena.
